The Hibachi Speaks

Posted by gilbertology on January 24th, 2007

Gilbert has updated his blog yet again.

If he could play one game against Duke:

…if I have the chance to go back to college, I’ll give up one NBA season to play against Duke.

One college game…that’s five fouls, right?…40-minute game…at Duke, they got soft rims…I’d probably score 84 or 85.

I wouldn’t pass the ball.

I wouldn’t even think about passing it. It would be like a NBA Live or an NBA 2K7 game, you just shoot with one person.

His All-Star starters:

West: Steve Nash, Kobe, Tracy, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan

East: Me, Dwyane Wade, LeBron, Chris Bosh and Dwight Howard (because the Diesel’s been out for a while)

He also writes about his upcoming games and how ESPN took him off the cover for Payton Manning.

Read his entire blog post here.

Gilbert Arenas on PTI

Posted by gilbertology on January 24th, 2007

Gilbert was on Pardon the Interruption today. Some of the highlights include:

  • Gilbert said he would give up a year in the NBA just to play one game against Coach K.
  • Talked about getting cut from the USA basketball team
  • The different names he yells when he shoots the ball
  • The game they played the night before against the Suns
  • At the end they asked him to do his “Hibachi routine”, so he pretended to shoot and said “Hibachi” (not in his regular voice but in a falseto)

You can listen to the podcast on ESPN.

Carla Peay wrote an article entitled “The Phenomenal Swag of Agent Zero”. Not much new then has not already been said before but it’s worth checking out. You can view the article here.

Gilbert Arenas Agent 25

Posted by gilbertology on January 23rd, 2007

While many people know the story of why Gilbert chose #0 (the number of minutes people said he would play at Arizona), many do not know that he originally wanted #25. Gilbert wore #25 while attending Grant High School but when he arrived at the University of Arizona, that number was already retired and up in the rafters. Just think, if he would have chosen that number then he would have had to come up with new nicknames, shoe names, and even his foundation. Agent 25? Addias Gil Twenty Fives? The Twenty-Five to Hero Foundation? Those just don’t work.

So who was the former Arizona Wildcat that you can thank for taking the number? Sharp-shooter and NBA champion, Steve Kerr.
