Gilbert Arenas Trampoline Dunk in All Star Game

Posted by gilbertology on February 19th, 2007

Back from Vegas and exhausted. Didn’t see Gilbert but Adidas had a lot of ads and billboards with him that i’ll post later this week. In the mean time, if you watched the All-Star game, you probably saw Gilbert join Elvis impersonators during a time out by doing a between the legs dunk off a trampoline.

Gilbert wins the 3-point Shooting and All-Star Game MVP!!!

Posted by gilbertology on February 14th, 2007

If Gilbert is going to go out and predict 50 point games, I might as well predict him winning both the 3-point shootout and All-Star game MVP.

Actually, the truth of the matter is I will be at Vegas for All-Star weekend from now until Monday night so there won’t be any updates to the site. But just in case Gilbert does win the shootout and MVP, you can’t say the site wasn’t update with the latest Gilbert news.

If you are in need of updated Gilbert and Wizards news, check out the D.C. Sports Bog, Bullets Forever, and Wizznutzz. Updated NBA news can be found at TrueHoops, SlamOnline, and YAYsports!.

Hopefully when I get back I’ll have a story of playing baccarat with Gilbert but more than likely he will be in his suite playing video games.

Gilbert Arenas is 12th on StubHub’s Top Dollar Ballers list

Posted by gilbertology on February 14th, 2007

StubHub has analyzed transactions from its customers to see which NBA superstars are commanding the highest dollars through their site. While not exactly a true measure of popularity (since some teams like Miami have two superstars in Shaq and Dwayne Wade), the Top Dollar Ballers list is determined by calculating the superstar’s team’s average road game ticket price.

“The NBA is a star-driven league,” said StubHub Senior VP Mike Janes. “While team rivalries do exist, many of today’s NBA fans are most motivated to see the league’s most exciting individual players. Fans will pay substantial amounts to see these true ‘money players’ in their town, and our data quantifies the ones they are paying the most to see.”

1. Dwayne Wade/(Shaq) $ 105.80
2. Tim Duncan $ 103.67
3. LeBron James $ 102.28
4. Kobe Bryant $ 101.97
5. Dirk Nowitski $ 90.35
6. Steve Nash/ Amare Stoudemire $ 90.28
7. Carmelo Anthony/Allen Iverson $ 86.86
8. Yao Ming/Tracy McGrady $ 85.41
9. Vince Carter/Jason Kidd $ 81.73
10. Dwight Howard $ 80.77
11. Kevin Garnett $ 77.67
12. Gilbert Arenas $ 76.61
13. Jermaine O’Neal $ 74.90
14. Chris Bosh $ 70.37
15. Baron Davis $ 66.32

Gilbert was 14th on the list last year.

Arenas to wear Agent 0 jersey during the All-Star game?

Posted by gilbertology on February 13th, 2007

Not only is Gilbert Arenas planning on tossing 100 “Agent 0″ jerseys to the fans, but he is planning on wearing an All-Star jersey with the word “Agent” instead of “Arenas” above his number 0.

How will he get away with it?

“They won’t know until the game starts”

What about the fine David Stern will give?

“It’s worth it… It’s worth getting fined for, because all those people who got the Arenas Zero jerseys are going to feel special.”

Gilbert still planning to score 50 against Portland

Posted by gilbertology on February 13th, 2007

Hoops Odyssey from CSTV.com has a Gilbert Arenas interview and video clip from a nightly shooting session as Gilbert was working on his 3-pointers on an off night. Among the notable points:

  • Gilbert doesn’t like people filming him shoot when he’s off
  • Gilbert makes 100 at each spot
  • Vince Carter once told Gilbert he didn’t work out at all one off-season
  • He’s really planning on dropping 50 on Portland next time they play (March 20th)
  • Gilbert says LeBron doesn’t want the last shot

Thanks to Dan Steinberg for the link.
