The Gilbert Arenas Mission Statement

Posted by gilbertology on March 22nd, 2007 in Gilbert's Thoughts

Want to know why people love Gilbert Arenas? Read his latest blog post on his mission statement.

I guess they just don’t understand me.

To understand me is to understand a fan.

To understand a fan is to love the sport you’re watching.

I love the game of basketball.

I am a fan of the game of basketball, and that’s why I enjoy it.

Growing up, it wasn’t about the money. It wasn’t about the cars. It wasn’t about the bling-blau that it is today.

It was simple.

“Gilbertology” and “Gilbert being Gilbert” means Gilbert enjoying his time in the NBA. From predictions that I say I’m going to do, to pranks, that I have fun doing with my teammates.

Thats right Gil let them know you are human to. You got singers, football players, rappers they don’t only sing or rap or play football they have fun is well. So for now on do you Sweetie. So brush your shoulders and shake the haters off.

Gilbert Arenas is one of the reasons I now enjoy watching NBA basketball. I grew up watching the old school players, Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Larry Bird. But over the years I’ve watched it less and less because it quit being a “team” sport and became a “me” sport. There’s nothing wrong with having a go to guy and Gil is definitely fun to watch.

Gilbert Arenas has brought me back to the game. He is as much of a fan of the sport as I am. He is a fans fan. I know that because I travel from DC to LA to see the Wizard play the Clippers March 24th. When the Wizards did not win, I thought my chance to meet Gilbert up close and personal was shot. I was not disappointed.

Gilbert thanks for signing my jersey!

I’m from Australia, and I grew up during the MJ era. And sure enough when he quit from the Bulls (again). The joy of the game seemed to magically diminish some what…

I hate to suck up, but seriuosly Gilbert Arenas injected BADLY needed personality and life into the League. I love all the other players out there, but Gilbert is one of the few honest and down to earth stars I have ever read about. And his BLOG is my favourite part of following the NBA.

His honest commentary on the life of a basketball player is the best thing to happen. I appreciate post game conferences(sometimes, when the journalist dont ask ridiculously lame questions), but Arenas provides by far the best insight into the NBA.

And I doubt he’ll read this, but seriously IGNORE THE STUPID HATERS. Oh my goodness i swear people have TOO much negativity, children are dying everyday, and we have the PRIVILIDGE of watching superstar atheletes play on a regular basis, yet people have to whinge and complain that basketball players are spoilt etc etc. GET OVER IT, i’d like to see those haters do something PRODUCTIVE with their life instead of slandering others when they haven’t been in there shoes. Judging others without being in their place is plain stupid. And yes I can judge haters, because I’ve been in their shoes before, and its just plain evil.
