The Gilbert Arenas Mission Statement

Posted by gilbertology on March 22nd, 2007

Want to know why people love Gilbert Arenas? Read his latest blog post on his mission statement.

I guess they just don’t understand me.

To understand me is to understand a fan.

To understand a fan is to love the sport you’re watching.

I love the game of basketball.

I am a fan of the game of basketball, and that’s why I enjoy it.

Growing up, it wasn’t about the money. It wasn’t about the cars. It wasn’t about the bling-blau that it is today.

It was simple.

“Gilbertology” and “Gilbert being Gilbert” means Gilbert enjoying his time in the NBA. From predictions that I say I’m going to do, to pranks, that I have fun doing with my teammates.

Gilbert does it again! Game winning layup vs. Sonics

Posted by gilbertology on March 21st, 2007

Gilbert Arenas capped his 42-point night by banking in a right-handed runner as time expired to give the Washington Wizards a 108-106 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday night.

Arenas crossed over Earl Watson, drove with his left hand, then switched to his right and scooped up the runner past Seattle’s Rashard Lewis and Chris Wilcox. Arenas then jogged to midcourt, circled around and stripped off his jersey, dropping it at the free throw line on his way to the locker room.

Gilbert Arenas in Freddie Mac’s Hoops for the Homeless

Posted by gilbertology on March 20th, 2007

Gilbert is doing his thing on the charity front. In addition to donating $200 for each 3-pointer he scores in the last home games of the regular season and all home games throughout the playoffs, Arenas will also attend Freddie Mac’s Hoops for the Homeless in June. Check it out if you are in the area.

Each year, Freddie Mac’s Hoops for the Homeless nets hundreds of thousands for local nonprofits fighting homelessness among families. This year, in addition to Earvin “Magic” Johnson headlining, Freddie Mac has teamed up with the Washington Wizards All-Star Gilbert Arenas as well as Arenas’ Zero Two Hero Foundation to put a hometown focus on a hometown problem for the June 9th Freddie Mac’s Hoops for the Homeless three-on-three charity tournament.

Gilbert’s new phrase: Don’t watch me, watch TV

Posted by gilbertology on March 18th, 2007

Gilbert’s updated his blog and writes among other things: trying to get his son sponsored by Triple A

I gave him the name Triple-A: Alijah Amani Arenas.

We’re trying to get him sponsored by AAA now and get his diapers paid for.

Portland on Tuesday

I made a prediction already, there’s no point in making it again. I already made it.

I can’t refresh your memories. Everybody knows about it. Everybody knew when I scored nine, they were quick to say that crap.

I know coach is going to get mad for me saying this, but if I don’t score 50, damn it, there’s going to be a lot of shots to get to 50.

and his new catch phrase “Don’t watch me, watch TV”

One day we were in practice and one of the rookies, Mike Hall, said he can stop me.

I was like, “What? They don’t have TV in the D-League?” So every time I shot the ball I was like, “Don’t watch me, watch TV.” So that’s where it came up from.
