Gilbert Arenas says he wants to make 100,000 shots in 73 days.
That is roughly 1370 made shots per day.
He says he is shooting 69.7% from the NBA 3-point line and 79.3% from the college 3-point line but doesn’t say how many of each he takes, so let’s just simplify it a little and assume he makes roughly 75% of his shots.
That means he needs to take around 1827 shots a day.
But wait! On his blog he mentions shooting 5000 a day.
I know people will look at the 69 percent from the NBA three for me and be like, “Oh, that’s nothing,” but when you’re shooting 5,000 shots a day, believe me, that’s pretty good.
Which means he is making around 3750 shots/day. At that pace, he will be done with 100,000 made shots in 27 days. If he goes the full 73 days at his current pace he will have made 273,750 shots.
Update: Let’s figure he does shoot 5000 shots a day. At 3 seconds per shot, it would take Gilbert over 4 hours to complete a session. At 5 seconds a shot, it would take Mr. Quality Shots almost 7 hours to complete.
Which could mean many things:
1) Gilbert may not be that good at math. He did leave Arizona early.
2) It was a typo and he really meant he’s going to be making 270,000 shots
3) He takes the weekends and some days off (but Agent Zero never rests?)
4) For his next blog post, Gilbert will update us on our progress by announcing he already got 100000 and is now going for a more realistic number - 300000
