Youtubesman Report: Other Famous Basketball Cartoons

(Normally you can find Youtubesman Reports over at Bullets Forever, but I figured this one would be a better fit over here. -Jake)

Gilbert’s upcoming cartoon series promises to be one of the more entertaining things done by a basketball player since My Prerogative:

However, he won’t be a pioneer in this upcoming endeavor. The Harlem Globetrotters had a cartoon series back in the early 1970’s:

The Globetrotters also managed to make an appearance on Futurama:

LeBron James guest starred in a recent episode of the Simpsons, along with Yao Ming, Tom Brady, Warren Sapp, and Michelle Kwan (check out the hibachi action at 7:13):

Gilbert Arenas = Steve Nash

Posted by gilbertology on August 31st, 2007

Steve Nash is a two time MVP and often regarded as the top point guard in the NBA. Gilbert Arenas is his equal. At least, in NBA Live 2008. Arenas, Nash, and Allen Iverson tied with a 91 rating (out of 100) for point guards. LeBron, Kobe, Wade, TMac, KG, and Tim Duncan were the only other players with a rating equal to or greater than Gilberts. I guess being on the cover does have it’s additional perks. A list of the Top 10 Rated Players:

1t. LeBron James: 96
1t. Kobe Bryant: 96
3. Dwyane Wade: 93
4t. Tracy McGrady: 92
4t. Kevin Garnett: 92
5t. Tim Duncan: 91
5t. Gilbert Arenas: 91
5t. Steve Nash: 91
5t. Allen Iverson: 91
9. Dirk Nowitzki: 90
10t. Elton Brand: 89
10t. Paul Pierce: 89

10 Things Straight From Agent Zero

Posted by gilbertology on August 31st, 2007

A couple days back there was a post about Gary Payton being rude from Dime Magazine. Well Dime has posted up that article, 10 Sense with Gilbert Arenas, for everyone to read.

Right now I’m working on a book. I’ve only been in the League for six years, so there’s no point in doing a biography yet. It will be a funny Gilbertology book.

Cartoons, reality shows, book deals… what’s next?

Arenas says Being on NBA Live Cover better than Having Own Shoe

Posted by gilbertology on August 31st, 2007

When Gilbert Arenas couldn’t make it to the NBA Live Summer Camp, Slam Online had a phone interview with him instead.

On why he didin’t make it:

“Yeah, I left my passport in the house,” he said via phone interview. “Me and my girlfriend got in a little argument, so I couldn’t go back home.”

On still owing the Portland Blazers 50 points

Yeah, I still owe them 50. You know what’s so funny, and I didn’t know this, I’ve never scored more than 30 points on them. That’s the only team that I haven’t scored 30 points on, in my whole career.

And if being on the cover of Live 08 or having your own sneaker was better:

Wooh, those are like neck and neck. You know what, the cover, because that’s an actual thing. People might not know your name, but they can see your face. You can go buy some shoes and they’re like, ‘which shoes are these?’ And they’re like, ‘Ah I don’t know, who cares, they look good.’ But when you’re on the cover, they can go buy the cover and they can recognize me walking down the street and they’re like, ‘Aww, that’s the guy on the cover I just bought.’ I’ll take the cover.

Read the entire interview on Slam Online.
