I told you about it before, now without further ado, here’s Gilbert’s shot that sent the game into overtime:
Sadly, it would be in vein as the Pacers finished the job in overtime winning 119-110. Gilbert had a solid game with 34 points, 3 assists, and 8 rebounds but struggled from the field going 10 for 25, 13 of 19 at the free throw line, and the only 3 pointer he made was the one I just showed you.But I’m all about optimism so I’ll close with what some other people had to say about Gilbert’s game-tying shot.
Awful Announcing (who provided the video):
Yeah Yeah Yeah. The Wizards lost in overtime, but after the injury plagued 2nd half of the season last year I just happy to see Gilbert back doing what he does best. Hitting Daggers….
Before you try to rain on my parade and point out that the Wiz went on to lose this game in overtime, I’ll tell you that I just don’t care: seeing one of the game’s biggest stars step up and deflate an entire arena is always enjoyable.The NBA: Where ‘STFU, You Know I’m Making This’ Happens
Washington Post’s Ivan Carter:
It was a few minutes after Gilbert Arenas hit that game-tying three-pointer to force overtime that he was getting ready to take the floor for OT and was stretching out his legs on the scorer’s table. I was sitting under the basket, right next the end of the Wiz bench furiously reworking my story after the shot when I looked up. Arenas looked at me, smiled and winked. It was a telling moment.
Did we say it would take a while for Gilbert Arenas to get his rhythm back? Opening Night for the guy, and he’s already in midseason form, sticking a trey at the buzzer to force OT against the Pacers. Arenas had Jamaal Tinsley stuck to him like cheap soda residue on the last possession, but fought him off and hit a step-back jimmy. It didnât matter that Gil (34 pts) had been 0-for-6 beyond the arc before that; there was no way anyone else was taking that shot

I love Gil as much as the next guy. I’ve been a die-hard Bullets fan since the 80’s, but he was 1-8 from 3.
Not only that, but the 3 sent them into a worthless Overtime. If the Wiz can’t beat the Pacers without Jermaine, then I’m a bit worried about us. Caron sure looked flat, and other than the 4th quarter, Antawn was just goofy.
I’m a bit pessimistic, but I really want them to do well. They had the best record in the East at one time last year, but it’s a bit stronger of an East, and they’ll need to pick it up. Disappointing first game. And I’ll be there for every televised game. Unfortunately.

@se7en
jermaine is just a parody of his young self… let’s hope they’ll get their motors running later on
