Gilbert’s Jersey Collection Is On The Decline

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 22nd, 2008

Among his many quirks, Gilbert is known for having a pretty epic collection of jerseys. I mean, if you’ve got a Chick Hearn jersey, you’re in pretty deep. However, it looks like Gilbert is going to be giving some of them away, but it’s not going be part of some massive yard sale he’s having. He’s doing it to help a fellow Wildcat in a time of need. Gilbert is donating several of his jerseys so that they can be auctioned off at a charity golf event to help Tony Bouie, who was an football All-American at the University of Arizona who is now undergoing chemotherapy treatment for lymphoma. You can find more information in the link about how you can help out, especially if you’re in Tuscon area.

Welcome To The Club Curtis Jerrells

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 20th, 2008

This is Curtis Jerrells, you may know him as the starting point guard of the Baylor Bears. Like Gilbert, he wears the number 0 and he’s got a penchant for the big shot like Arenas does. Check out this lay up he had to tie the game against Oklahoma last night:

In overtime, he did something that Gilbert also did once. Somehow I get the feeling he probably didn’t want to feel like Agent Zero in that moment:

If I were Curtis I wouldn’t be too upset though, there’s always second chances.

Gilbert’s New Title: Dunk Choreographer

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 19th, 2008

Remember that sweet dunk Jason Richardson used to win the Slam Dunk Contest against Rashard Lewis in 2003? Yeah, that was all Gilbert’s idea:

Since it’s coming from Jason’s mouth, you know it’s true. Gilbert might have been the brains behind this dunk too, but I want to get some more confirmation before I go take that step.

A Step In The Right Direction On (Black) President’s Day

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 18th, 2008

ESPN.com has the good news:

Gilbert Arenas was cleared to participate in light, non-contact drills by the Washington Wizards on Monday, a step forward in his return from left knee surgery.

Arenas has said he hopes to return to the Wizards in the coming weeks. The team has not said when he can return to full-contact practice.

If his return date of March 2nd is still the plan, that means that Arenas is only 15 days away from his return.  It’s been a long time, but it looks like The Takeover: Reloaded is getting closer and closer to starting back up.

Gilbert Isn’t Going To China

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 16th, 2008

Michael Lee is reporting that Gilbert Arenas didn’t receive an invite to try out for the 2008 Olympic team this season. The news was hardly a shock, considering that the controversy surrounding his 2006 appearance and his injuries last season and this season. Although he said in a recent blog entry that he would rather have a gold medal than an NBA ring, he’s ready to move on with his career:

I just said, ‘You know what, that’s a dream that’s just past.’ I got my chance to play and I got in a couple of games with the USA jersey on, and I satisfied a hunger I had as a child.”
