Don’t Mess With The Landlord

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 8th, 2008

Wizards Rookie Nick Young learned a valuable lesson Friday night from his teammate and the owner of the house he lives in:

Arenas, who hopes to return to game action at some point after the all-star break, made the trip to continue his rehabilitation from knee surgery with the team’s athletic trainers. Young, however, probably wishes the three-time all-star had stayed home.

At some point before Friday’s game, Arenas cut the left arm off of the shirt Young wore to the arena. The prank was a form of payback for some perceived misstep by the rookie.

“Man, that was my favorite shirt too,” said Young. “I loved that shirt.”

Some of you might be thinking “Well that’s pretty mean!” but consider that it could’ve been much, much worse.

Gilbert Talks to SLAM, Men’s Journal, and the Washington Times

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 7th, 2008

SLAM’s Michael Tillery interviewed Gilbert on Tuesday regarding several different topics, including how he’s changed his mental approach since he’s been forced to be a spectator:

Michael Tillery: Being out Gilbert, what have you focused on mentally seeing the game from the outside looking in?

Gilbert Arenas: Watching the game like a coach. It’s easy to watch it as a player. You see things and you try to figure out what coach is talking about. As you sit there, you begin to think like a coach instead of a player.

The DC Sports Bog has some highlights from his interview with Men’s Journal that just have to be read.  I’d give you a snippet, but I don’t want to ruin it for you.  Once you read it you’ll probably understand why he licked his teammates’ donuts.

Finally, the Washington Times got Gilbert’s thoughts on the Shaq trade.

Something to Keep in Mind On Super Tuesday

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 5th, 2008

If you’re heading out to the polls today, just remember that there’s one candidate who’s above the rest:

As The Basketball Jones puts it:

This is a man that will tell it like it is, hold nothing back and be there to show you the way.

You can debate whether or not that’s what you’d like in a candidate, but no one can deny that the shirts look good. (NOTE: This is not to be confused with an actual political ad.  Vote for whoever you like, as long as it’s Gil.)

Gilbert is Slowly Turning Into Antawn Jamison

Posted by JakeTheSnake on February 2nd, 2008

A little while back, WUSA Channel 9’s Levan Reid had an interview with Gilbert Arenas. It’s a short interview (just over 3 minutes) but they cover a lot of subjects including: how he added an Antawn Jamison-like scoop shot, improving his defense, team chemistry, playing NBA Live, retirement, and why he’s not going to ever buy a McDonald’s franchise. You can check it out here.
