Gilbert Arenas is a Free Agent

Gilbert Arenas may have four years and more than $80 million remaining on his NBA basketball contract but in terms of a sneaker deal, he’s a free agent. In response to Gilbert Arenas’ guilty plea to felony charges back in January, Gilbert’s former shoe company, Adidas, terminated its agreement. So far this season, Gilbert has been seen on the court wearing everything from Under Armour to Air Jordan Retros.

In the Thanksgiving game, Arenas wore a pair of Jordan CMFT Max Air 12. The only problem is, the shoe was designed more so as a running shoe than basketball. Arenas learned the hard way when he slipped and fell during the game going after his missed shot. Chances are, he won’t be wearing those shoes again.

Gilbert Arenas Scared

If you haven’t already, make sure you check out And A Wild Child Shall Lead Him where Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated wrote about Gilbert Arenas. In it, Arenas reveals that the real reason he faked the knee injury during the Washington Wizards preseason opener was not to give teammate Nick Young more playing time, but he was afraid of the reaction from the home crowd.

“I was really scared of getting booed. It’s a little crazy because I was here with Kwame Brown when Kwame was scared to go out there. I used to be like, Man, it’s just boos. Now here I was six years later, and I was him. I was scared to go out there.”
